One life One chance
As a child, I was fascinated by the glitz and glamour of television. I often watched Star Plus with my mother, dreaming of one day seeing myself on the small screen. However, as I grew up, that dream faded into the background. Life took a different turn, and after completing my MBA, I found myself working as a cabin crew member for Qatar Airways. I was content, enjoying the excitement of travel and the perks that came with my job.
Then, the world changed. During the COVID-19 pandemic, flights were reduced for four per month. That long-forgotten childhood dream of acting resurfaced. I shared this thought with friends, and their words stuck with me: "We have only one life. If you don't try now, you'll never know." I realized they were right.
From Doha, I recorded myself, sent out auditions, and to my surprise, started getting shortlisted. The first opportunity came with the Star Plus show ‘Mehandi Hai Rachne Wali’. Although I couldn’t join due to COVID restrictions, it gave me the confidence that I could make it as an actor. With a determined heart, I resigned from my job, set aside a portion of my savings, and moved to Mumbai, ready to give myself six months to pursue my dream.
The journey was far from easy. After 15 mock shoots in three months with no success, I decided to give up and return home Ranchi, but soon received a call for a South Indian web series, ‘Dil Se’.
As fate would have it, I was soon selected for the Star Plus show 'Chasni', where I played the character of Maya, my favorite role so far. This led to other projects like 'Ek Chutki Sindoor', 'Mere Balam Thanedaar', and a brief stint on 'Meet'. My schedule in the industry has been non-stop, my mother has been managing everything so I can focus on my work. I am now returning to 'Mere Balam Thanedaar' with a twist.
Looking back, I realize I owe a great deal to Shahraz. Without his encouragement during my initial phase, I might never have taken this leap of faith. No matter what the circumstances are between us now, I will always be grateful to him for his contribution. Today, I’m living my dream because of my father's progressive mind. I couldn’t be more grateful.
