Crafting a Musical Legacy
From the very beginning, music has been the heartbeat of my life. I was drawn to melodies and rhythms since childhood, and at the age of 10, I began my formal training under the guidance of the esteemed Late Shri Deepchand Sharma. It was during my 12th class that I took my first big step into the world of competitive music by participating in the Voice of Rajasthan. To my surprise, I made it to the top 5, an achievement that fueled my passion for the craft. In 2005, I auditioned for Fame Gurukul and was selected, but my dreams of a musical career were temporarily halted as I was preparing for engineering entrance exams at the time.
Despite my deep-rooted love for music, I followed a different path and enrolled in an engineering college in Jamshedpur in 2006. Even there, music stayed with me, and I continued my pursuit by taking singing classes. However, my heart was not in engineering, and within the first semester, I left college and returned to Jaipur, where I fully immersed myself in classical music. It was during this period that I discovered my passion for composing music, and I began creating my own songs, which eventually became the foundation of my career.
With over 15 years of experience in the music industry, my journey has been one of steady progress and relentless dedication. Today, I’m proud to have collaborated with some of India's most celebrated artists, including Arijit Singh, Ankit Tiwari, Jonita Gandhi, Hariharan Ji, Rahul Vaidya, Saaj Bhatt, Palak Muchhal, and many more. Coming from the rich cultural backdrop of Rajasthan, my aspiration is to innovate within the genre of Rajasthani music while keeping its traditional essence intact. Currently, I'm working on several exciting projects, including both Marathi and Rajasthani songs, with the aim of introducing fresh sounds and stories to these regional music forms.
But the path wasn’t always smooth. When I first returned to Jaipur after leaving college, the response from friends and family wasn’t encouraging. People doubted my decision to pursue music and told me I wouldn’t be able to make anything of it. I wanted to improve myself technically, but I faced financial constraints, as my father had already spent most of his savings on my education. I knew I needed good equipment and training, so I started taking singing and piano classes while simultaneously auditioning for competitions like Saregama and Voice of India.
Rejections came frequently, and my compositions initially didn’t resonate with people. But I didn't give up—I kept trying, kept refining, and kept moving forward. In 2014, I made the pivotal decision to shift to Mumbai, knowing that this was where my real journey would begin. I arrived in the city with just 7,000 rupees in my pocket, unsure of what the future held. I found a small room in Navi Mumbai, sharing it for 2,000 rupees a month, and began visiting production houses daily, hoping to meet directors and producers. Being new, I faced indifference and rejection, but I waited from morning until evening outside their offices, determined to make an impression.
During these challenging times, I started producing regional music, which provided me with the financial stability to continue pursuing my dream. The most significant turning point came when I met Mukesh Bhatt Sir. He liked my compositions and promised to work with me. Though it took time, this was proof that persistence pays off. Throughout my journey, my wife stood by me like a rock, supporting me through every struggle. My parents and in-laws were also constant sources of encouragement, pushing me to follow my passion.
Today, my dream is within reach—to become one of the best music composers in the country. Along the way, I've been fortunate to receive recognition for my work. In 2024, I was honored with the Best Music Composer award at the Clef Music Awards for my songs "Tere Ishq Ne" and "Mere Bappa Morya," a moment made even more special because it was presented to me by the legend I admire, Sonu Nigam Ji. In 2022, I received the Khandal Pride award, a particularly meaningful achievement when I recorded with Hariharan Ji, someone I had admired since childhood.
One of my greatest achievements so far has been my song "Bade Acche Lagte Hai Unplugged," which became a global hit in 2022, crossing 15.5 million streams on Spotify. This milestone represents not just success, but the realization of a dream that began with a deep love for music as a child and grew into a lifelong pursuit.
