Choosing the Roles to Inspire and Make a Difference
It was a day like any other, but one that changed the course of my career forever. Pradeep Ji, a well-known director, came to my house for the Ferns and Petals advertisement shoot, where I played the lead role. As soon as he saw me, he asked with a curious expression, “Didn’t you use any makeup?” I smiled and replied, “No, I didn’t.” His eyes lit up, and he nodded, “Perfect. Can we start?” I answered with a confident "yes," not fully understanding the significance of the moment. Then he said something that took me by surprise—“You are my Geeta.”
I was puzzled and asked, “Who is Geeta?” He then narrated the story of Aayushmati Geeta Matric Pass, a film he was working on. I was captivated by the plot and touched by the character’s simplicity and strength. Pradeep Ji explained that he was impressed by my natural, makeup-free look because that’s exactly who Geeta was—raw, authentic, and true to herself. After hearing the story, I was eager to audition for the role. I did, and soon after, I was selected to play Geeta.
I chose to take on the role of Geeta because the story highlights the government’s Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao initiative, which is very close to my heart. Even today, in many villages across our country, girls are not given the opportunity to receive an education. I strongly believe in the power of educating women; when you educate a woman, you educate a nation. I felt it was crucial to raise awareness about such an important issue through this film.
In addition to Aayushmati Geeta Matric Pass, I’m excited about another upcoming project titled Love Your Father, a Tollywood film that will be released in multiple languages including Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi. I play the lead role of Sweety, alongside some incredible talent like S.P. Charan Sir, Nawab Shah, Aman Verma, and Raghu Baba. It’s a youth-based film with a powerful story that will resonate with many. I’ve always believed that movies should leave audiences with a message that lingers long after they’ve left the theater. This movie has that potential.
Reflecting on my journey, I started with Free Fire Moco, where I became the face of the game. Hrithik Roshan represented the boys, and it was my first big break. Initially, my family, especially my Dada Ji, wasn’t supportive of my decision to pursue acting. Coming from a business-oriented background, my father envisioned a different path for me—he believed I should continue my education or pursue a career in business. After all, I had excelled academically and was also a national-level basketball player and a skilled tennis player. Acting didn’t fit the mold they had in mind for me. However, my mom and dad stood by my side, accompanying me to every shoot and cheering me on.
After my Moco song became a hit, offers started pouring in from big banners like Sa Re Ga Ma and Zee Music. I went on to do a web series called *The Vibe Hunters* for Jio Cinema, and although I’ve received numerous offers since then, I’ve also turned down many because the scripts didn’t resonate with me.
Life has been challenging, filled with both rejection and success, but I’ve come to embrace every obstacle as part of my growth. It’s the challenges that have shaped me into the person I am today.
The character of Geeta taught me many things. I’m a modern girl, and Geeta is quite the opposite—a simple, Hindi-speaking village girl who wears traditional outfits. I, on the other hand, am more comfortable speaking English and often wear Western clothes. But despite these differences, Geeta and I share one important trait: we are both deeply family-oriented and resilient. We never give up, no matter the circumstances.
Looking ahead, I’m determined to focus on content-driven films. I want to choose characters that have the power to make a real difference in society. For me, a good script is everything, and I aim to use my platform to tell stories that matter. As I continue this journey, I hope to inspire others and contribute to meaningful cinema that sparks conversations and brings about change.
This is just the beginning of what I hope will be a long and fulfilling career. There’s so much more I want to do, and I can’t wait to see where this path leads.
