When Dreams drops Beats
If you’d told the 9th-grade version of me that one day I’d be playing at major clubs in Bangalore and producing hit remixes, I wouldn’t have believed you. Because back then, I didn’t even know how to play music properly, let alone produce it. All I had was curiosity, a borrowed laptop, and a fire in my heart.
My journey into music started unofficially over six years ago, but it’s been three years since I stepped into this world officially. It all began when I watched an uncle in our police campus who used to play at regional events. Something about the way he controlled the vibe of the entire space through music fascinated me. I started assisting him—not because I had a plan, but because I was drawn to it. That experience introduced me to DJing. Around the same time, a close friend introduced me to the world of music production.
I didn’t have fancy equipment or a mentor to teach me. I started with just a laptop and Virtual DJ software. Learning how to face a crowd was one of the biggest challenges in the beginning. It’s not just about playing music—it’s about knowing what to play and when. Timing is everything, and in those early days, I struggled. But with time, by listening to other artists and observing closely, I found my own rhythm.
When it came to music production, my resources were even more limited. I didn’t own a PC, so I used to go to the government cyber hub in my area. That’s where I installed FL Studio for the first time. Every day, I’d download a tutorial video from YouTube, go there, and practice. I did this consistently for two years. No shortcuts, no helping hand—just dedication and a burning desire to get better.
There was no one to guide me, no one to show me the way. I had to learn everything by myself. And honestly, that’s what makes my journey so special to me.
In the beginning, I didn’t know anything about monetizing my music. I made countless tracks for free, just to build my portfolio and get my sound out there. My first paid song earned me ₹700—and I got that after four years of hard work. But that moment? It meant the world to me.
Fast forward to now, I’ve received multiple awards and recognition for my work. I’ve made a lot of hit remixes and played at some of the biggest clubs in Bangalore. Along the way, I’ve also made strong connections, good friends, and even brothers through music. These relationships mean as much to me as the beats I produce.
This is just the beginning. In the future, I want to produce music for films and go on a world tour as a DJ. That dream keeps me going every single day.
From that little boy in 9th grade who didn’t know how to mix a song to the artist I’ve become today—it’s been a long road. And I’ve walked every step with passion, patience, and persistence. The grind never stops, but I’m here for it. Because music isn’t just what I do—it’s who I am.
