Story of a Rising Star in Events & Music

When most teenagers are still figuring out what they want to do in life, I was already walking two very different paths that surprisingly led me to the same place—on stage, under the spotlight, doing what I love. Both emceeing and singing came to me in the same year, when I was just 18. Now, two years later, I still sometimes pause and feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for being able to live a life that allows me to follow both my passions.

My journey into emceeing began quite organically. Back in school and during the early days of college, I’d often find myself hosting events, festivals, and competitions—including the popular Malhar Fest. At that point, I never thought of turning it into something professional.

Then one day, a friend asked if I could host a small event. I agreed, thinking it would just be a fun one-time gig. But that single show turned out to be a stepping stone. One event led to another, and the momentum hasn’t slowed since. Without realizing it, I had stepped into the world of professional emceeing.

If emceeing was an accident, music was my quiet companion. I wasn’t formally trained, but singing had always been close to my heart. I grew up singing in my church choir and that experience became the foundation for my vocal journey.

It was during the COVID lockdown that I began sharing covers on Instagram under the handle @rhythmic_vocals. The response surprised me—and one day, I got a DM from someone asking if I’d be open to performing live. I was hesitant. But with my family’s constant encouragement and belief in me, I said yes. That single opportunity became a ripple, opening doors to live gigs, performances, and experiences I never imagined would come so soon.

Being a full-time student and a part-time professional is no joke. Balancing college work, assignments, and exams with a fast-paced event calendar demands discipline, late nights, and yes—sacrifices. There are days when I feel stretched too thin, but the drive to keep going always wins. Why? Because I genuinely love what I do.

There’s another challenge I continue to face—how young I look. People often assume I lack experience simply based on appearance. It has led to moments of doubt, even missed opportunities. But over time, I’ve learned to let my work speak for itself. Consistency, confidence, and professionalism have become my strongest tools.

Another practical hurdle is the demand for video portfolios. In the events industry, especially for weddings and corporate gigs, people want to see your work. But capturing professional-quality videos during live events isn't always in my control. I’m working on building that portfolio, but it's a slow process. Still, I remind myself that every performance is a step closer.

One of the most rewarding moments so far was being invited back to my alma mater to judge a singing competition. That was a full-circle moment—standing on the other side of the stage where I once nervously performed. Hosting Mumbai Meri Jaan’s Christmas Fiesta in my very first year was a major milestone. Sharing the stage with the incredible Mark Revlon was surreal. Performing during the Christmas season at IC Colony was a heartwarming highlight I’ll never forget.

At just 20, these milestones remind me that I’m on the right path—and that this is only the beginning.

My goals are clear—I want to keep scaling up. Larger weddings, global corporate shows, high-profile social events, festivals—I want to keep pushing boundaries, both as a performer and as a professional. One of my big dreams is to break into television. I’d love to explore TV anchoring or hosting someday—it’s a space where I can further challenge myself creatively and connect with an even wider audience. I’m also working toward building a personal brand that brings together both my identities: the emcee and the singer.

And if you asked me about a long-term dream? Starting an event company with my sister. We’ve been talking about it casually, but it’s an idea that excites me every time I think of it. “The Gonsalves Sisters” carving their name in the events industry—that has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?

At the end of the day, I’m still learning, still growing, and still showing up with passion and purpose. This journey might have started by chance, but continuing it is a choice—and it's a choice I make every single day with gratitude, ambition, and a heart full of dreams.
