Journey Into the World of Melodic Techno

It all started back in 9th grade—an age where most teens are still figuring themselves out. One regular school day, a friend handed me a pair of headphones and said, “You have to hear this.” What poured into my ears was melodic techno—a sound so powerful, so emotionally charged, that it shifted something deep inside me. It wasn’t just music. It was a revelation. That moment marked the beginning of a lifelong love story between me and the music that now defines my journey.

There was something about melodic techno that changed my entire perspective. The atmospheric builds, the driving basslines, the cinematic emotions—it hit different. It made me feel something I never knew music could evoke. It didn’t just become a genre I liked—it became part of my identity. It became home.

That day planted the seed of passion, and from then on, I began investing hours into discovering new music, studying the work of artists who have shaped the genre—ANYMA, ARGY, Tale of Us, and many more. ANYMA, in particular, became a beacon of inspiration. His music isn’t just heard; it’s experienced. It transports you, makes you travel without moving an inch. I remember thinking, “This is what I was meant to do.”

And so, I started DJing.

At first, it was thrilling. The adrenaline of playing music you love and watching people respond to it is like no other. But soon, I faced the reality of the industry—tough, competitive, and often unforgiving. I had to hustle for every slot. I played opening sets to empty rooms and spun tracks for crowds that just weren’t vibing. There were nights I felt invisible—unseen and unheard.

There were days when I seriously considered quitting. The doubt creeps in, and you start questioning everything. “Is this worth it?” “Should I just be like everyone else and take a normal job?” But every time I felt defeated, I reminded myself of why I started. That feeling I had back in 9th grade when I heard melodic techno for the first time—that raw emotion, that magic—is what keeps me going.

Music, for me, is deeply spiritual. It’s more than entertainment. It’s a force that brings people together, a language that speaks directly to the soul. Whether you’re a DJ, a musician, or someone who simply feels the pulse of a beat—it has the power to summon emotion, create connection, and unite strangers under one rhythm.

Bangalore, the city I’m growing in, is brimming with talent. The underground scene here is fierce and competitive. Being judged, overlooked, or underpaid is almost a rite of passage. I’ve had to reach out to organizers for gigs, request fair payments, and prove myself time and again. But with every setback came a lesson in persistence. With every “no” came a stronger belief in my “yes.”

So far, I’ve played over 40 gigs and have a Grade 3 merit certificate in guitar from Trinity College London. I've also released a track on Spotify titled Aghora Ganpati, with more music on the way—some unreleased, some still cooking in the creative lab.
