A Corporate Pro’s Journey Into Anchoring
It all started with a mic, a moment, and a memory. My love for anchoring took root quietly during my school years, blooming slowly, year by year. The first time I felt its magic? I was just in the 10th grade, hosting my sister’s Sangeet. That evening was electric — the applause, the laughter, the sense of holding everyone’s attention with just my voice — it sparked something deep within me.
Soon, I became the default host for every family gathering. Whether it was Sone ki Seedi for my Dadi or a festive celebration at a cousin’s wedding, the mic always found its way to me. It was natural, effortless, and oddly fulfilling — though at the time, I never imagined it could become something more than just a personal joy.
Then came a turning point — my cousin’s Sangeet (my brother-in-law’s wedding). It was a night full of energy and warmth. After the event, while we were winding down, my father-in-law jokingly remarked to my Masi Saas, “Meri bahu ne tumhare 15 hazaar bacha liye anchor ke!” That playful compliment struck a chord. For the first time, I thought — what if this could be something real?
That thought deepened during my Devrani’s baby shower. I took it upon myself to script the event — from start to finish — games, emotions, the entire flow. It wasn’t just a script; it was a reflection of me. And the response? Overwhelming. Everyone was amazed. The energy, the bonding, the joy — it felt no less than a professionally curated show. That evening changed me. Something inside whispered, this is who you are.
A few days later, while scrolling through Instagram, I came across a reel by Mrs. Bhagyashree Mohan — my now Guru and guiding star. Her words felt like fate’s nudge. I joined her class at Life Craft Academy and soon became a Certified Professional Anchor.
And as if the universe was waiting, my first commercial event came soon after — a beautiful 1st Birthday + Naming Ceremony. That was my moment. My beginning.
By profession, I’m a Talent Acquisition Specialist with 6 years of experience. I’ve thrived in corporate life and even received the ‘Pat on the Back’ award from a client known to rarely appreciate anyone within six months. Since then, recognition and appreciation have flowed consistently in my professional journey.
But now, there’s a deeper joy. A parallel life that gives me wings — anchoring. Events that light me up. Smiles I get to create. Memories I help make.
Of course, living this dual life — a full-time job and a full-time passion — isn’t easy. There are days I juggle meetings in the morning and mics in the evening. Some cheer me on openly, others silently. And that’s okay. Every bit of support counts.
But if there’s one thing that makes this possible, it’s my family.
I live with my in-laws, and let me say this — without my Saasu Maa and Papa Sa, I wouldn't have made it this far. They adjust, support, and encourage me in all the quiet, powerful ways that matter.
Then there's my husband. My calm. My strength. My biggest supporter. Whether it’s choosing to work from a café so I can attend an event, or just being present in the background — his faith in me is my fuel. Touchwood.
And of course, my Devrani. She was the first person I confided in about this dream. Her encouragement was the final push I needed to start believing in myself.
Social media communities like PULA have also embraced me warmly, and now, people recognize my passion there too. I’ve even received client appreciations for anchoring — words that validate this path I’ve chosen.
Today, I proudly walk the tightrope between profession and passion. And tomorrow? I dream of slowly shifting — one joyful event at a time — to this world that makes me feel most alive.
Because sometimes, all it takes is one mic, one moment… and a family that believes in you.
